The East District of the Southwest Desert Conference of the United Methodist Church is pleased to announce it will be offering:
What: LSM Introduction to Lay Ministry: The BASIC Course
When: Friday, October 27, 2023, from 6:00 pm-9:00 pm and
Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm
Where: Desert Chapel UMC, 462 N Palo Verde Dr, Apache Junction AZ 85120.
This is an introductory course for Lay Servant Ministries. This course helps lay servant leaders understand and adapt an intentional discipleship plan for their church. The text The Introduction to Lay Ministry: The BASIC Course is required reading for this program.
The cost for this course is $15.00 and is payable upon registration. Either register and pay online or call the East District LSM Director at (480)390-3493 to complete the registration and send the payment to DSCUMC Treasurer, PO Box 32830, Phoenix, AZ 85064 with instructions to deposit into the East District LSM account. This cost includes just water.

What: LSM From Pew to Pulpit: A Beginner’s Guide to Preaching
When: Friday, October, 27, 2023, from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 9:00 am -4:30 pm

This is an advanced course for Lay Servant Ministries. A down-to-earth, practical introduction to the ins and outs of preaching for lay preachers, bi-vocational pastors, and others newly arrived in the pulpit. The text is required reading for this program.
The cost for this course is $15.00 and is payable upon registration.
