Message from Our Lay Leader

Last evening we had the pleasure of meeting our District Superintendent, the Rev. Melissa Rynders. She, her husband and 2 teenage boys recently relocated to the North Scottsdale area from Tucson so she could have easy access to the Churches she oversee here in the East District. She has been in the ministry for 17 years.

During the SPRC portion of the meeting, we discussed Pastor Iain’s retirement at the end of his present commitment, which is June 30, 2023. In planning for another

Pastor coming in at that time, we discussed continuing with a Part-Time Pastor and the options of having a Retired Pastor vs a Non-Retired Pastor. One major factor we, the Leadership Board, is keeping in mind is if we go with a Non-Retired Pastor our responsibility for covering Health Insurance and Pension contribution.

Rev. Melissa briefly discussed the upcoming issues of the breakoff with the Global Methodist Church. If you would like to read more about this, go to the South-

west Conference Website and you will find lots of

Moving on to the business meeting where everyone is welcome, Rev. Melissa

reflected on Churches “Thriving not Languishing”. She stressed: Unspeakable Joy Unsinkable Faith Unstoppable Love With this, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE

Pastor Iain reported on the Ministry of Desert Chapel. Pastor Iain’s Compensation was voted on. The future Leadership Board Members are To Be Determined.

If you are interested in seeing the formal minutes of the meeting, please let us know and we will provide them to you.
With God’s Love, Jeannine Allen, Lay Leader
