Message from Our Lay Leader

Happy August! Looks like the kids are all back in School again. Thank you all for your generous contributions and support during our June and July Mission, of gathering back to school supplies for Avalon. Dave Tom delivered everything to Avalon on the 20th, which gave the administrators a chance to have these supplies ready for their Meet the Teacher’s Day on Monday the 25th. The School administrators are so happy to have received all these items and love that our Church has given so much to Avalon.
Our Mission for the month of August is to gather nonperishable items and toiletries for our Blessing Box. Nancy January has so graciously volunteered to oversee this Mission. As many of you know, every week a volunteer goes out to Gold Canyon United Methodist Church to pick up items their Food Pantry is unable to use. This helps us be bale to fill the Blessing Box each day. But during the Summer months Gold Canyon’s supplies are low and therefor not bale to give us as much. So your help is needed— not only in August, but all year round! We look for can goods, box goods, cereal, peanut butter, and other non-perishable items. We also like to be able to put in the Box Toiletry items like: Toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand lotion, bath soap, wash cloths etc… Please NO fresh vegetables, bread, apples, etc.. They do not hold up in the heat plus the ants love them! Thank you for your support and if you have questions, please see Nancy January or Ric Kayer.
The Leadership Board has taken the month of July off and resumes their monthly meetings on August 24th. All are invited to attend.
With God’s Grace, Jeannine Allen Lay Leader
